July 22nd, 1967: This Black 5, 45388, was a cop for me - taken on my last ever visit to a steam depot during BR steam operation - at 10F, its new home depot, having previously been based at 8C for a few years. During 1960 it was based at Bletchley

July 5th, 1968: Standard Class 5 73010 is seen awaiting its fate inside 9H Patricroft - the depot closed the following day

July 5th, 1968: Good but sad study of Black 5 44777 at 9H Patricroft on the last day before the depot closed

July 5th, 1968: Stanier Black 5 44888 at 9K Bolton shortly before its closure

July 5th, 1968: Black 5 44829 (a former 5B engine) at its home depot Bolton. The partly visible shunter is D2516, one of a class of 20 Hudswell-Clarke 0-6-0s. It was awaiting disposal.

September 21st, 1966: 9J line up with (left to right) Carlisle Black 5 44674, 8Fs 48011, 48397 and 48164 (all 9J)

September 6th, 1964: Heading north through Milnthorpe station (south of Kendal) is Jubilee 45601 British Guiana, a Newton Heath engine at this time

September 6th, 1966: Fowler Tank 42322 is running light engine through Milnthorpe, heading south back to its home depot at Carnforth

EE Type 4 D369 (5A) heads south near Milnthorpe with 1A69, the 16.00 Carlisle to Willesden milk train, on Sunday, September 6th, 1964. It was due into Carnforth at 5.31pm. 1A69 is the correct reporting number. Many thanks to Tony Jenkinson for this information. A Jubilee and a Fowler tank engine were also seen. The engine went on to be based at Healey Mills for many years, withdrawal coming in December 1983. From a black and white image.

May 23rd, 1964: Stanier Pacific 46228 Duchess of Rutland at Oxenholme Station - sadly, by May 1964, had been demoted to a one coach parcels

May 23rd, 1964: English Electric Type 4 (Class 40) D216 Campania approaches Oxenholme, passing the closed depot, with a north-bound parcels train

May 23rd, 1964: Britannia Pacific 70039 Sir Christopher Wren passes through Oxenholme Station with a south-bound goods train

May 23rd, 1964: Jubilee 45661 Vernon, of Newton Heath, is waiting to leave Oxenholme with a Windermere train. The engine survived a further year, withdrawal being May 1965
