November 3rd, 1968: Only three months  since the demise of steam sees EE Type 4 D273 passing Greetland signal box with coal empties for Healey Mills. Note the shedplate just under the number - 51L - although the loco had moved recently to HM

April 8th, 1968: Newly transferred from 87E Landore (Swansea) is EE Type 3 D6928 (HM) with a single parcels truck, heading for Bradford via Halifax at West Vale, taken from Greetland signal box thanks to a friendly signalman

April 8th,1968: Taken from signalbox at Greetland, EE Type 3 D6865 heads towards Elland with coal empties. The lines to the right lead up to Halifax and are back in use today, in the distance is Copley Viaduct which carries the Halifax - Sowerby Bridge lines. D6865 became 37165 and then 37374

April 27th, 1967: 8F 48646 (10D) at Copy Pit with a coal train from Lancashire. The engine was a cop, transferred from the Midlands - though would be seen many times during 1967 and 1968

April 27th, 1968: Black 5 44822 of Newton Heath is seen leaving Todmorden towards Hebden Bridge with a short parcels train. Behind are two 8Fs, 48441 (10F) awaiting banking duties on the far side of the triangle and - more difficult to see - 48081 (10F) in the sidings (above tender of Black 5). The lines curving right lead to Copy Pit

July 13th, 1966: Having just come out of Elland tunnel Fairburn tank 42699 of Holbeck runs light engine heading for home. The remains of Elland station are visible on the left though there is no sign of it today. However, the houses on the hillside in Exley Lane still exist

1962: WD at Halifax. Was in the reject section but, as it is the only half decent photo I have of Halifax Station in the 60s I have moved it into this section. This WD was one of the first engines I ever spotted and the FIRST EVER photo I took of a steam engine, unfortunately unidentified. In the 60s there were one or two freights through Halifax and a number of parcels trains (today it is dmus only, no freight or parcels)
