The very short branch line seen here leads to a small oil terminal (not used today). The Halifax line branches off the CV mainline immediately behind the camera position at the signal box named Greetland. Originally the box was Greetland No2 - with this line branching off to the right by the locomotive (no sign at all of it now) and was about two miles long. The picture of D6865 shows the view looking the other way.
