August 27th, 1962: 46115 Scots Guardsman and D377. See note
27th August 1962
Not the best of pictures taken with box camera in my early days of spotting. The eventually preserved Royal Scot 46115 Scots Guardsman (9A) and EE type 4 D377 (5A) were a triple-headed light engine movement. The other engine was filthy so I thought the Scot looked the better one to take a photo of. In my ignorance at the time I didn't think the number of the other engine - 46208 - particularly significant! It turned out to be the only Princess I ever saw in active BR use and I missed the chance to photograph it. The EE Type 4 was in the middle and the engines were travelling from right to left across the picture. The Princess was Liverpool Edge Hill based and named Princess Helena Victoria. I did see 46201 and 46203 during 1963 - but both were in store
